BEAUTIFUL PLACES ARE IMPORTANT
"Scatter my ashes in beautiful places
Offer the blue skies the beauty of your faces
You are a part of this kingdom and creation
Scatter my ashes in beautiful places"
I first heard this Andrew Osenga song served up to me by Spotify, a couple years ago, while driving up the Olympic Mountains in Washington for a trail run.
If the Spotify algorithm ever demonstrated how well it has me figured out, it did so at that moment.
The lyrics to the song - a letter to his children - are deeply moving.
I think God clearly wired us to find beautiful places moving for many reasons, the first of which is to see something deeply true about who He is and to therefore worship Him all the more.
Somewhere on that list of why He so wired us is that we might be inspired to create more imaginatively, as His subcreators on this remarkable blue marble.
That's why we at SUBLIMITY have selected two beautiful places for Wonder Camps in 2024: Charleston SC in the spring and Carefree AZ in the fall.
Wonder Camp is an awesome time to be personally and spiritually refreshed, while also finding inspiration from beautiful places and fascinating colleagues to create remarkable and important experiences for the wonderful audience members God has entrusted to you.
Participation is limited to sixteen people from eight organizations (we highly recommend you participate in pairs). So check out the link in the first comment and sign up today!
Photo credit: My eldest daughter took this photo a couple years back on a trip to Charleston. She had just completed boot camp that day and was thrilled to get her first evening at the beach. My main memory from that evening beach time was her swimming quite far out in the ocean (while I played family lifeguard as usual) and my wife asking "Are you going to let her swim that far out?" I paused for a few seconds and then answered "I'm just having a hard time imagining myself telling a Marine that she is swimming too far out in the ocean."
