YOUR PEOPLE ARE AWESOME
Human beings are amazing.
We think about that truth when we think about our teams. Or our family members. Or even the many viral videos of people doing remarkable things.
But do we consider how awesome each human being is, when we think about our audience members?
It rarely seems like we do.
It seems like we "appreciate" them. But are we truly blown away by their humanity? Who they are as people?
I think about this from C.S. Lewis's "Weight of Glory":
"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destinations. It is in the light of these overwhelming possibilities, it is with the awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal."
It's easy to forget that we are communicating with immortals.
We are convincing, appealing-to, affirming and reminding extraordinary beings. Humans *are* extraordinary, uniquely carrying the image of God.
It helps to be reminded of this. And nothing reminds one better of this than getting to know them - encountering your supporters as whole people.
That's what SUBLIMITY does.
And when you encounter your audience members as whole people, using our Human Centered Everything process, you'll see the opportunities to create potent experiences that will drive their unprecedented participation and your impact growth. (You'll also understand the Very Cool Ideas that actually won't move them as you hoped.)
